Abstract
The article analyzes the system of human rights protection in the European Union and its relationship with the human rights protection of the Council of Europe. The special focus is made on the legal nature and framework of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the progress of the European Union’s accession to the European Convention on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
