Abstract

Ultrasound wave can produce a variety of biological effects through thermal or nonthermal mechanisms in vitro and in vivo (Dalecki in Annual Review of Biomedical Engineering 6:229–248, 2004). In fact, the thermal and nonthermal effects are not separable in most physical therapies.
