The Impact of Economic Growth on the Prevalence of Health Problems in Latin America

Economic growth has been considered as a positive factor because it is associated, in the mid-run, to greater income levels. However, economic growth may demand fundamental personal and social changes which may threaten people’s well-being. This chapter studies the impact of economic growth on the prevalence of health problems in Latin America; it finds that economic growth is associated to a negative impact on people’s well-being.
