Abstract

Gravel resources in the Netherlands will be exhausted within a period of 25 years from now. Sand for industrial purposes is present in sufficient quantities for a much longer period. In order to meet the demand for sand to heighten terrains of future building areas and to make road foundations in the western Netherlands, it appears to be necessary to use in future sea sand in increasing quantities.
