Abstract

In embarking on my research into the subject of ICRC activity in favour of the Jews in Hungary during the Second World War, I was soon able to formulate the basic questions set out in the introduction and concerning the timing of ICRC action in this field, the way its work was organized, its cooperation with other bodies, the extent to which it exploited the possibilities open to it, the degree of its success and its independence of action, the influence of the institution’s leading personalities and their conception of their duty.
