Genetic Determination of the Serum „Thread Proteins“ and the Slow α2 Globulin Polymorphism in Pigs

  • Chapter
Blood Groups of Animals

Abstract

In all animals, whose sera have been tested so far by means of starch gel electrophoresis, it is possible to discern pronounced fractions between the start and transferrin region. The protein forming this fraction has been designated by Smithies (1959) Sα2 globulin (S slow), sometimes it is also called α2 macroglobulin.
