Abstract
The literature on the blood groups in rabbits has been recently reviewed by Cohen (1962) and Iványi and Tomášková (1960). Although almost 100 papers concerned with blood groups in rabbits or their utilization in various experiments were published, most of them deal with only one blood group system within which 3 antigens denoted by us Š, N, O antigens of the system Hc (and 2 antigens as products of the “gene interaction”) (see Cohen 1962) can be determined by means of isoimmune sera. This system can be designated as the “major” blood group system of rabbits. A number of authors refer even to other groups not falling in the main system or not assigned, but none of them was examined in detail. A review of nomenclatures employed for the major blood group system is presented in table 1.
