Abstract
I have only recently been honoured by election to this distinguished Academy, but since then I have given much thought to the high ideals of our Academy and to the manner in which I might be able to help in the realization of these ideals. Central to these ideals is the concept that we must strive to foster and develop the fullest possible life for mankind, not just here and now, but indefinitely into the future. It is my belief that we will be successful just in so far as we appreciate the nature of man and plan accordingly.
