Abstract
The establishment of a vegetation cover on a wall is intimately associated with the advancement of the wall’s decomposition (see 3.2.2) and this holds mutatis mutandis for the progress of succession, the final stage of the succession series being determined by the ultimate degree of extremity of the environment. In the case of an autogenic process of succession this means that the ultimate successional stage is dependent on the capacity of the plant cover to change the habitat. However, as is the rule, the succession series is not exclusively autogenic or allogenic and the decomposition is a function of both the plant growth and the environmental (especially the climatological) factors.
