Abstract

We have interpreted volcanism and tectonics as the result of the transfer of internal energy to the surface. These processes leave traces in the form of chemical changes and mechanical deformations of the crustal rocks. These traces are studied by the geologist, who tries to reconstruct the evolution of a given area.
