Abstract
Watching party leaders campaigning for the parliamentary election of 15 May 2002, one was again inclined to conclude that only men participate in politics in the Netherlands. Not one woman took part in the many televised debates between party leaders. There was no colourful distraction, only dark grey, dark blue and black suits, light shirts and suitable, not too flashy, ties. The image of politics as a man’s game was again clearly consolidated by these daily television reports.
