Overzicht
In 1524 moest de Leidse uitgever Jan Seversz vluchten, omdat hij, allerminst ten onrechte, verdacht werd van het drukken en verkopen van verboden boeken. Hij trok naar Utrecht, maar werd in het volgende jaar ook daar verbannen. In maart 1525 kocht een zekere Jan Zyvertsz, zoals hij in de acte genoemd wordt, een huis in Amsterdam en vestigde daar een boekhandel. Later drukte hij ook.
Abstract
In 1524 the Leiden publisher Jan Seversz was obliged to leave the town in a hurry because, by no means unjustly, he was suspected of printing and selling forbidden books. He moved to Utrecht, but the next year he was banished from there too. In March 1525 a certain Jan Zyvertsz, as he is called in the deeds, bought a house in Amsterdam and started a bookshop there. Later he also was active as a printer.
