Abstract
We may smüe at the absoluteness of Keith Feiling’s judgment that Arnauld de Pomponne was the greatest of French envoys, and still appreciate the spirit which moved him to such exaggeration. Pomponne did embody, to a remarkable degree, the qualities of a great diplomat.
