Minimalprogramm zur Ökosystemanalyse: Untersuchungen an Tierpopulationen in Wald—Ökosystemen

Abstract

Normally the structure and functioning of an ecosystem are so complex and variable that their analysis often remains unsatisfactory even if a lot of apparatus and labour is applied. This holds true especially for terrestrial ecosystems. Therefore procedures must be found which can yield comprehensive and comparable data in the simplest possible way. A programme is suggested, by which, at comparatively low costs, one can arrive at basic statements concerning the list of species, the structure and dynamics of populations, at least in the case of one animal group, important in many respects, the arthropods. The most important apparatuses are pitfall trap, ground photo-eclector, and arboreal photo-eclector. With holometabolic insects the emergence abundance of imagines is a central point of departure for further investigations and calculations in the field of ecosystem analysis. On the basis of a beech forest it is described how density values, typical of the ecosystem, are obtained. In comparing different beech stands of the same type (Luzulo-Fageturn) and age (diameter of trunks etc.) weevils with soil-dwelling larval stages seem to indicate equivalences or differences respectively between biocoenoses.
