Abstract
A map of the vegetation of Switzerland based on a grid-system is in work. By analogy to well known and described regions, the presence of 96 fairly natural vegetationtypes and of 22 ones being strongly influenced by man is checked on topographic and geologic maps and on aerial photographs. By aid of a computer, different maps will be printed showing the distribution of every one of the considered vegetationtypes, the number of types per km2, the value of every square for the nature conservation and the significance of the probable conflicts between conservation and other human activities.
