Landschaftsökologische Kartierung und Bewertung in den Niederlanden

Abstract

A survey of landscape ecological mapping and evaluation in the Netherlands is presented. This type of research started in 1968. It was at first mainly an initiative of private action groups of scientists, but has gradually become a governmentally sponsored and publicy accepted approach in the sphere of physical planning. Some information is given on the common features of landscape ecological survey and evaluation in the various projects carried out in the Netherlands. Ecotope and grid system-based studies are compared.

The main applications for physical planning and some perspectives for further developments are discussed. A scheme with information on nine major projects is presented as well as a reference list containing most of the Dutch reports and papers on the subject.
