Abstract
In all animals, whose sera have been tested so far by means of starch gel electrophoresis, it is possible to discern pronounced fractions between the start and transferrin region. The protein forming this fraction has been designated by Smithies (1959) Sα 2 globulin (S slow), sometimes it is also called α 2 macroglobulin.
