Haemoglobins, Haptoglobins and Albumins of Horses

  • Chapter
Blood Groups of Animals

Abstract

Horse haemoglobins have been studied by Cabannes and Serain (1955), Bangham and Lehmann (1958), Efremov (1963) and Braend and Stormont (1964). Cabannes and Serain reported the findings of two phenotypes; one composed of two components was observed in 45 horses and the other composed of one component was observed in three horses. All the other investigators reported one phenotype only, namely that having two components.

These investigations were supported in part by a research grant from The Agricultural Research Council of Norway.
