Why investment incentives matter

  • Chapter
Investment Incentives

Abstract

There must be few tax systems in the world today without some form of investment incentive. Most governments declare themselves in favour of investment and express this attitude in a variety of incentives, the majority of which have tax consequences. The amounts of tax revenue at issue are substantial, but so are the potential rewards: the incentives improve the investment climate, investment increases, the economy prospers, the standard of living accelerates.
