Abstract
The first three chapters of this book are devoted to the law of the European Communities. Reading these chapters requires some basic knowledge of certain concepts of this law. In this chapter an attempt will be made to give some basic information to those who have no knowledge at all of the legal aspects of the EC. Of course this information will be incomplete and by that very fact to some extent misleading. However, the editors felt the reader might be better served with some sketchy information than with none at all.
