Abstract

The present paper examines the phenomenon of inflection feeding derivation in modern Polish.1 It is shown that inherent inflection in Polish can constitute an input to word formation processes such as suffixation and conversion.

I would like to thank the two anonymous reviewers as well as Geert Booij, Martin Haspelmath, Ireneusz Jakubczak, Kyle Johnson and Robert Rothstein for comments on earlier versions of this paper. One of those versions was published as Cetnarowska(1998).I remain solely responsible for the views expressed here and for all my errors. This research was supported in its later stages by a grant from the Polish-U.S.Fulbright Program.
