Abstract
In Denmark the environmental assessment at strategic level was introduced in 1993 for national policies, plans and programmes. There is no obligation for environmental assessment of policies, plans and programmes at other administrative levels, but the Ministry of Environment and Energy has supported a trial run in Northern Jutland, where the opportunities to practice the environmental assessment of a regional plan in preparation were tested.
