Abstract
The paper discusses the impact of international activity of a higher educational institution on the development of the socio-economic life of a local community using the Transilvania University of Brasov as example. More generally, the educational reform in Romania especially after the Revolution of December 1989 is considered. Within this context the overview is given of the international exchange of information in evolution of people’s mentality, the acceleration of technological exchange among countries at different stages of development, and the acceleration of the setting-up of an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation.
