Abstract

The particularities of the Zambezian regional center of endemism are presented which results in the definition of dry evergreen forests. The state of knowledge of the Zambezian dry evergreen forest in general and the Luiswishi forest in particular is summarized. Regeneration potentialities and observations carried out on gap dynamic are analyzed. The recommended methods of restoration take into account bush fires, logging, clear cutting and enrichment. These strategies are discussed in relation to man’s pressure on the Zambezian environment.
