Abstract

The economic advantages that result from preservative treatment of timber in contact with the ground have long been recognised by the railways, postal authorities, and the public utility companies in all developed and industrialised countries. However it is only in comparatively recent times that the value of preservative treatment for mining timbers has been fully appreciated and it is still not sufficiently recognised by the building industry, and by those who use timber on their forms and gardens for fencing, greenhouses and other wooden structures.
