Abstract
The shadow cast by an object on a plane may be determined by applying the theorems of Descriptive Geometry, for light is propagated in straight lines. The rays of light may be regarded as projectors, the shadow being the outline of the projection of the object. The source of light will be assumed here to be so remote that the rays which fall on the object are par1; bence the projection of the shadow is an exercise in oblique (or, if the plane of projection is normal to the rays, orthographic) projection.
