Abstract
For years, business modelers of various modeling persuasions have been exhorting corporations to create formal models of their various business activities, especially before any attempts to automate them. As information management consultants, the authors have spent quite a number of years individually and collectively making such exhortations, and making much of our living from the resulting business modeling activities. As a result, we have over the years developed a number of approaches to modeling business activities that we have applied successfully to a wide range of businesses ranging from financial services to manufacturing to telecommunications.
