Abstract

As tobacco journeys from field to factory to consumer (Fig. 1.1), it must be accompanied by a parallel regime of sanitation and pest control. The three principles, prevention, control and elimination, are the cornerstone of an integrated pest management programme which every pest controller or sanitarian will pursue. This chapter addresses these aspects, concentrating on prevention through a policy of sanitation.
