Abstract
Hazards-98 (the Seventh International Conference on Natural and Man-Made Hazards), in Chania, Crete Island, Greece, was organized by the International Society for the Prevention and Mitigation of Natural Hazards, the IAPSO (International Association for Physical Sciences of the Ocean) Commission on Natural Marine Hazards and The Tsunami Society. The Conference was hosted by the Technical University of Crete, and the National Observatory of Athens (Greece) was the local organizing Institute. The Conference brought together engineers, researchers, science managers and university teachers from over a dozen countries to learn more about the Conference theme, namely ‘Natural Disasters: How do we mitigate them?’. Over 130 papers were presented including about 25 papers which were presented in the ‘Poster Sessions’.
