Abstract
The analytic decomposition of ocean waves into a mixture of wave trains with different travel directions and frequencies is based on cross-spectral analysis of time measurements of multiple wave properties. The Norwegian government, with funding by the Chevron Oil Field Research Company, is planning an extensive comparison of various systems for producing the ocean wave decompositions from wave data collected on a North Sea offshore platform. The comparisons will involve both instrumentation and analysis systems.
