Abstract
Formal techniqes for the analysis of decision problems such as Bayes networks and Influence Diagrams were anticipated by the famous lawyer John Henry Wigmore (1913) when lie devised charts for examining the structure of evidence in legal cases. We examine the relationship between these independently developed tools.
