Abstract

Disease resistance was divided into true resistance and field resistance (Muller and Haigh, 1953). Field resistance has been used for resistance to potato late blight and rice blast diseases. In rust of wheat and barley, resistance has been divided into seedling resistance and adult-plant resistance which are similar to true and field resistance, respectively. Partial resistance and quantitative resistance also have been used for low levels of resistance.
