Abstract
The 20th century was the Age of Urbanization. As the economic structure shifted from agriculture to manufacturing, there was an exodus of population from rural areas into cities. In the advanced nations of Europe and North America, urbanization began to accelerate around the beginning of the century, and cities were continuously joining the ranks of the million population class.
