Abstract
This paper views some of the work presented in the symposium from a neural perspective. It is argued that any change in hostplant selection depends on a change in the peripheral or central nervous systems. Any changes in hostplant use and, ultimately, the evolution and phylogeny of phytophagous insects have a neural basis.
