Abstract
In Chapters 3–7, the solenoidal motion of turbulent flow is studied exclusively, except buoyancy effects of weak density change through the Boussinesq approximation. In aeronautical, aerospace, and astrophysical fields, however, flows with high Mach number are observed frequently. Their prominent feature is the occurrence of a shock wave across which flow changes from the supersonic to subsonic state. There fluid is highly compressed, and the steep streamwise gradient of density generates large density fluctuations.
