Abstract
We present the analysis of a sample of distant (z ~ 0.4 – 0.8) dusty starbursts selected by their ISOCAM-15 micra mid-infrared luminosities, for which we have obtained high resolution optical (LRIS, ESI) and near-infrared (NIRSPEC) spectroscopy with the Keck telescopes. The SFRs estimated from the ultraviolet continuum, from the dust emission in the far infrared, from radio synchrotron radiation originated in supernovae remnants, and from X-rays produced by high mass binaries, are compared to the standard optical indicators of star formation based on the [O ii] and Ha emission line luminosities, after correcting them for the intrinsic dust attenuation inferred from the Balmer decrement.
