Abstract
We have been studying the IR absorption bands of water deposited at 12 K mixed with N2 and also mixed with N2 and CH4. These results are important for application to Triton and Pluto where N2 is the main component of their icy surfaces and it is believed that water is isolated and in crystalline form. We have presented results of three IR absorption bands of water: The bending band, the stretching band and an overtone of both. All three modify their bands with two mean effects: a shift of the peak and a dramatic change in the shape of the bands.
