Part of the book series: Advances in Cellular and Molecular Biology of Plants ((CMBP,volume 2))

Abstract

Angiosperms use three systems of reproduction: hermaphroditism, in which the flowers are bisexual and predominantly self-pollinating; monoecy, in which the flowers are unisexual, with male and female flowers occurring on the same individual; and dioecy, in which some plants bear male flowers while others bear female flowers.
