Abstract
The process of interaction of free atoms with solid surfaces is very important for modem science and practice. In particular heterogeneous recombination of atoms is a significant stage in the mechanism of many heterogeneous catalytic reactions. If we take into account that almost all the modem chemical productions mainly use catalytic processes, the urgency of controlling these processes becomes obvious. Practical interest towards the study of the processes of recombination of atoms and radicals on various surfaces has been predetermined by various factors, such as the range of space studies (the role of recombination on the walls of the fuel combustion chamber and in the nozzle torches of the rocket propulsion); the study of the chemistry of the high strata of the atmosphere; the problem of preservation of the ozone layer (absence of the information on the impact of solid particles on the dynamics of the chemistry of this layer); wide application of fire extinguishing powders; the necessity of carrying out thermophysical calculations of the interaction of a flying body and the environment; the study of the mechanism of heterogeneous catalytic processes and chain reactions, where the chains terminate on the solid surfaces, etc.
