Part of the book series: Mathematics and Its Applications ((MAIA,volume 388))

Abstract

Till now we have considered an optimization of real-valued functions. However, in several application there is more than one numerical criterion and there are situations which are just not comparable. Those problems appeared for the first time in theories of economy in the utilities, preference and welfare. An interesting survey about the subject is contained in the papers Stadler (1979), (1987), Dauer and Stadler (1986).
