Abstract

Among the various types of electromagnetic energy-converters to be studied in this book, the synchronous machine is the one that embodies the idea of relative motion between electric conductors and a magnetic field in its purest form. This machine also has the distinction of being practically the only type of generator for major power systems, in addition to being widely used as a motor.
