Abstract
The Cold War has resulted in a dramatic increase in the production and deployment of conventional weapons in Europe. These weapons have now become more a liability than an asset. Accordingly, a number of activities for their dismantlement have taken place throughout the European continent in these few years, reflecting the end of a confrontational era and the development of a relationship among states based on more cooperative approaches.
