On Relational Paradigm in Bioethics

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Philosophy of Medicine ((ASBP,volume 71))

Abstract

With the rapid development of modern industrial society, many ethical problems arise. A central one is the tendency of increasing social disintegration and loss of communal bonds. Common ideals of freedom, equality and fraternity which have had force since the Enlightenment are losing their social power. The centripetal force which once united us to make efforts for the same goals is losing the ability to bend us to the basic principles which served as moral foundations of our ethics.
