Abstract
Professor Roy Goode has asked me to say a few words, presumably both as a practitioner of arbitration and as a professor, on the teaching of international arbitration. When wondering on how best to approach such an interesting but rather difficult subject, I thought that a convenient (and perhaps dangerous) starting point might be to try to establish the profile of the ‘ideal’ international arbitrator — perhaps a suicidal pursuit bound to lead to my immediate disqualification in a few pending cases!
