Abstract
Much of the information contained in the Autecological Accounts is presented in a form already familiar to plant ecologists. It thus requires little interpretation, especially as the written sections of each Account (notably the Synopsis) assess the ecological significance of the more important attributes of the subject species. The main purpose of the notes given in this explanatory chapter is therefore to examine critically some of the less familiar analyses and uses of the data which may be possible using the large body of standardized autecological information which the Accounts provide.
