Abstract

A commonly held view among physicists is that there is a qualitative difference between the quantum and classical domains that allows us to ignore the implications of quantum theory in dealing with macroscopic phenomena. The original Copenhagen Interpretation, which featured Niels Bohr’s concept of complementarity, did not recognize that difference. If the principle of complementarity can be seen to apply in macro physics and particularly to cosmology, it could have profound implications for scientific epistemology. In this paper we show how the extension of complementarity to macroscopic phenomena can take place accounting for some puzzling results of observational cosmology.
