Abstract
In the case of twodimensional motion of an ideal fluid the streamfunction satisfies the equation
where ω is the vorticity. In Chapter 4, we found five nonlinear wave equations of type (4.2.26) admitting generalized separation of variables. In this section. we show that only five equations of the shape (1.1) whose right-hand sides are given by the formulas (4.2.24) admit generalized separation of variables.
