Abstract
Leaves generally lose photosynthetic activity when leaf water potential (ΨW) decreases. The losses are attributable to stomatal closure and decreased chloroplast activity (1). Attention has recently focused on the chloroplasts because many agronomic species show especially large effects at that level.
