Abstract
A functional photosystem II is required for growth of the cyanobacterium Anacystis nidulans R2 (Synechococcus R2, PCC 7942). Thus, if a genetically altered strain is viable, then that strain must have a photosystem II which is competent, although possibly altered in function. In this paper we examine several genetically altered strains of this cyanobacterium for their changed sensitivity to the photosystem II herbicide diuron (DCMU).
