Abstract
Woodlands operations, specifically logging, are facing an increasing need for control. As the cost of logging machinery skyrockets and labour costs increase, the need for tighter controls on operations increases in direct proportion. Many operators are instinctively cost and production conscious, but many do not understand the value of control on their operations. The black book in the hip pocket type of control is a thing of the past and, if an operator is to survive, he must tightly control his men and machines to ensure their maximum productivity and efficiency. One definition of business is that it is the survival of the least inefficient.
